Invalid Update Control CTF File Error With AVG Anti Virus 8.0

You Might encounter Invalid Update Control CTF File Error when updating AVG Anti Virus 8.0, myself though on both windows xp and Windows Vista operating systems. Here is how I solved the invalid Update Control CTF File Error.

First you need to unhide the hidden files from from windows explorer, Tools-Folder Options-View-Select Show Hidden Files and folders radio button and click on apply and ok.

When you are done with that you just need to remove the CTF temp files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avg8\update\download folder.

Or simple copy this line in red C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avg8\update\download and paste in My Computer Address bar and delete the .ctf files to resolve the issue.(make sure your operating system is in C drive or change the drive where it is located)

Make sure you don't delete all the .bin files in there unless you want to re-run all updates since your original installation (reinstallation seems to cause a problem in IEs Link Scanner which causes IE to Crash). Only the avginfo files that end with .ctf

For those using windows vista and getting this Error Invalid Update Control CTF File, you just need delete the .ctf files from the following location C:\ProgramData\avg8\update\download.

Windows Vista: C:\ProgramData\avg8\update\download,Find the avginfoavi.ctf and avginfowin.ctf files and delete them, this will fix Invalid Update Control CTF File Error In Windows Vista, or Download the utility from the link deleteupdatefiles and run, this should automatically remove the CTF Files.

Its as simple as that, just deleting the invalid ctf files does the trick, Wish happy Avg Anti virus 8.0 updates ahead, check out other free and great products at AVG AntiVirus AVG Internet Security,AVG Anti-Virus plus Firewall

Thanks
